2026 Ford Super Duty Specifications
When it comes to trucks, few brands can rival Ford. Over the last century, this automaker has established itself as a leader in designing and building trucks, with the versatile F-Series being the most popular truck in America. With its capabilities and available equipment, it is easy to find an F-Series truck to fit your needs. But what happens when you need a little more power? What do drivers do who have the toughest jobs, towing large trailers and carrying heavy cargo payloads? This is where the Super Duty trucks come in.
If you have a job that requires exceptional power and capability, your best choice is a 2026 Ford Super Duty. This lineup of three exceptional truck models provides you with the capabilities you need, whether you are towing heavy equipment for work or need to tow a boat or camper in your free time. When you choose one of these exceptional heavy-duty models, you will see how it delivers incredible capability that you just can’t find in a light-duty or midsize model. Once you have hitched a trailer to a Super Duty truck or filled its sizable bed, you will see what makes it so super.
Configuration
Ford has made it easy for drivers to find the right Super Duty truck by offering many choices on each 2026 model. These three different trucks each have three different cab sizes, as well as five trim levels. The key is to find the right one for your needs.
Models
The three Super Duty truck models are the F-250, F-350, and F-450. Each is a little heavier and more powerful as you go up in size. Subsequently, you should keep in mind that there are price differences for each 2026 Super Duty model. For example, the 2026 F-250 has a starting MSRP of $45,675, while the 2026 F-350 starts at an MSRP of $46,970, and the 2026 F-450 has a base MSRP of $61,330.
Cab Sizes
No matter which Super Duty you choose, you will get a choice of three cab sizes. The Regular Cab has one row of seats with two doors and can accommodate up to three passengers, making it ideal for those who plan to use their truck primarily for commercial purposes. The SuperCab features a pair of rear-hinged doors, providing access to a rear seat, which is ideal if you need to carry up to six passengers. The largest cab size is the SuperCrew, which has four full-size doors for its two rows; this cab provides more legroom in the back than SuperCab models.
Trim Levels
Ford offers five different trim levels on its Super Duty trucks. This makes it easy to choose the basic features you want. It also gives you the ability to choose a price point that works for you, as each trim has optional and available equipment that you can add without having to move up to a higher trim level.
The entry-level trim on each of the three models is the XL. This has basic equipment and is a good choice for drivers who will largely use their trucks for work. The XLT adds several features, including a chrome front grille. Drivers who want to use their Super Duty for towing might consider moving up to the Lariat trim, as it comes standard with a 360-degree camera and PowerScope trailer tow mirrors, which will come in handy when towing; it also has a larger 12-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system than the eight-inch screen on the XL and XLT.
The two top trims are the King Ranch and Platinum. These are the ones to consider if you are planning to use your Super Duty trucks for personal driving, at least in part. Each has leather seats, premium audio systems, and other comfort and convenience features that families are sure to enjoy, with the Platinum providing just a bit more.
Engines
Ford understands that each driver has different needs. This is why every 2026 Super Duty offers a number of engine options. In fact, you can choose from four different engines on the F-250 and F-350, while the 2026 F-450 offers two.
The base engine on most trims of the F-250 and F-350 is a 6.8-liter V8 gas engine. This comes standard on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. This engine has 16 valves for its eight cylinders and can produce up to 405 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque.
The King Ranch and Platinum trims of the F-250 and F-350 have a larger 7.3-liter V8 gas engine. Like the smaller V8 on the other three trims, this engine has 16 valves for its eight cylinders and has an output of 430 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque. If you choose the XL, XLT, or Lariat trims, you are still able to choose this engine as an available option.
The F-450 has a choice of two engines, both of which are available as options on the F-250 and F-350. These are turbo-diesel engines, so you get the benefits of easier maintenance and improved fuel efficiency.
The 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel V8 engine has 32 valves for its eight cylinders, delivering an impressive 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. This is the standard engine on most trims of the 2026 F-450. The available 6.7-liter High Output Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel V8 boosts this output to an incredible 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, the highest output of any Super Duty engine.
Transmission
All 2026 Ford Super Duty trucks come standard with a TorqShift ten-speed automatic transmission. This is designed to improve the performance of your Super Duty when accelerating or towing at low speeds.
Drivetrains
Depending on your trim, you will have the choice of rear-wheel drive (4×2) or four-wheel drive (4×4). The XL, XLT, and Lariat are all 4×2 standard, with 4×4 as an option, while the King Ranch and Platinum are strictly 4×4. Four-wheel drive provides improved traction, while rear-wheel drive provides better fuel economy and towing capability.
Probably the biggest reason drivers choose a heavy-duty truck like a Ford Super Duty is for towing large loads. These trucks will provide you with the capability you need to get your toughest jobs done right. Ford also offers special features like Pro Trailer Assist to make hitching a trailer safer and easier. You can also get a power tailgate with a retractable step to improve access to your truck’s bed.
Towing
The three Super Duty models provide impressive towing stats. The one with the best overall is the F-450, while the F-350 can tow up to the same amount as the F-450 if you opt for one of the available Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel engines. The F-250 provides solid numbers as well, but not enough to rival the F-450.
Several factors will impact the trailering capacity of your truck, including the cab size, trim level, drivetrain, and bed length. Generally, choosing a Regular Cab with 4×2 and the standard bed will maximize towing capacity. However, the biggest factor will be your engine choice.
When considering the 2026 F-450, to maximize towing capacity, opt for the available 6.7-liter High Output Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel V8. This will allow you to tow up to 40,000 lbs. If you stick with the standard 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel V8, you will “only” be able to tow up to an impressive 38,600 lbs.
If you decide to go with a 2026 F-350, your towing stats would match those of the F-450 if you opt for one of the Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel engines. However, those numbers will go down slightly if you choose either of the gas engines. The standard 6.8-liter V8 of the XL, XLT, and Lariat allows you to tow up to 18,900 lbs, while the larger 7.3-liter V8 on the King Ranch and Platinum trims increases your capacity to 22,500 lbs.
The F-250’s stats come in a little lower. The XL, XLT, and Lariat trims with the 6.8-liter V8 can tow up to 17,300 lbs, while the King Ranch and Platinum with the 7.3-liter V8 can tow up to 19,500 lbs. If you go with either of the Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel engines, your 2026 F-250’s trailering capacity will increase to 22,900 lbs with the base version and 23,000 lbs with the High Output version.
Hauling
Carrying cargo is another area where the Super Duty trucks excel. Your capabilities will depend on the model, engine, and bed length. Ford offers two different bed lengths on each Super Duty: The standard bed measures 6.8 feet and can fit up to 65.4 cu.ft. of cargo, while the 8.2-foot long bed allows you to carry up to 78.5 cu.ft. of cargo.
Beyond the volume of a covered bed, you have to understand the amount of weight it can haul. This is where the model and engine come into play. The 2026 F-250 with the 6.8-liter V8 can carry up to 4,240 lbs, while choosing the 7.3-liter V8 increases this to 4,246 lbs. Opting for either Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel will decrease this slightly, to 4,048 lbs with the base Turbo-Diesel and 3,918 lbs with the High Output version.
A similar thing is also true with the F-350. When you choose an XL, XLT, or Lariat with the 6.8-liter V8, you can carry up to 8,000 lbs, while the larger 7.3-liter V8 has a maximum payload capacity of 7,635 lbs. Choosing a Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel on your F-350 gives you the ability to carry up to 6,952 lbs of cargo, while the High Output version can provide a maximum of 6,935 lbs.
Interestingly, the F-350 has slightly better cargo-carrying capabilities than the F-450, which has a maximum payload of 6,482 lbs when equipped with the High Output version of the Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel engine. If you stay with the base version of this Turbo-Diesel, you can carry up to 6,322 lbs.
