The Ford Mustang is one of the most potent and remarkable cars on the road. We’re a Ford dealership, so of course, we feel that way, but once you start looking at this model, you’ll quickly see why we love it. One of the only struggles when looking for a Ford Mustang for sale is choosing which one is right for you. With nine different trims available for the 2024 Mustang, you have many options, and the differences between them can be subtle. Fortunately, the differences can also be pretty significant, so once you look at what’s available, it should be easy to narrow things down to a couple of options and then go from there. So, let’s check out the 2024 Mustang models to see what each one offers and help you decide which one might be right for you.

2024 Mustang EcoBoost Fastback

Kicking things off, we have the EcoBoost Fastback, which represents the entry point for the 2024 Mustang, making it the perfect place to start. EcoBoost models like this are named for their engine: a new 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 that clocks in at 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, ensuring you have a great time on the road. Fastback models have a standard solid-roof design, as opposed to the convertible options, and this one has a dual Bright exhaust, configurable daytime running lamps, LED projector headlamps with LED signature lighting, and LED sequential tail lights. 18-inch wheels are standard, though 19-inch wheels are available.

Inside the starting Mustang, you’ll find some fantastic features, including a 13.2-inch Centerstack infotainment display and a 12.4-inch Digital Cluster with Information on Demand Message Center. Single-zone climate control is standard with black foot pedals, Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start functionality, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. You get a six-speaker sound system in this model, plus cloth front bucket seats with a six-way driver’s seat and four-way front passenger seat.

2024 Mustang EcoBoost Premium Fastback

If you like the performance and design of the starting model but want some more advanced features inside and out, you should check out the EcoBoost Premium Fastback trim. This beauty has dual power-adjustable side mirrors with heating and integrated turn signals, plus Pony projection lights on the exterior for an added touch of style. Inside, you’ll find several upgrades over the base model, including aluminum foot pedals, an auto-dimming frameless rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel. You get an enhanced nine-speaker sound system in this Premium trim, a wireless charging pad, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and ActiveX seating with heated and cooled front seats for added comfort whenever you go for a drive.

2024 Mustang EcoBoost Convertible

Like the performance and features of the standard model, but want to be able to open up your vehicle to get some fresh air? Then, the EcoBoost Convertible is for you. Much of the features are the same, including the impressive 2.3L EcoBoost engine, 18-inch wheels, dual Bright exhaust, and more. Inside, you’ll find the same experience in this one as you will with the starting model, beyond the expected differences of having a convertible soft top. This gives you two fabulous trims to start with.

2024 Mustang EcoBoost Premium Convertible

In much the same way the Premium Fastback enhances the starting model, the Premium Convertible improves the standard features of the one we just looked at. Beyond the convertible top, this model features many enhancements over the Premium Fastback, such as heated, integrated turn-signal side mirrors featuring Pony puddle lamps. Moving to the inside, you’ll find aluminum foot pedals, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and more.

2024 Mustang GT Fastback

While the standard engine in the 2024 Mustang is great, Ford knows that Mustang drivers are looking for an experience that will really get their hearts pounding. The GT Fastback features a monster of a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine, dubbed the “Coyote,” that delivers up to 486 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque, ensuring an amazing time on the road. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on this one, though you can upgrade to a 10-speed automatic with paddle shifters if you prefer; plus, you get 18-inch wheels and four-piston Brembo brakes on the rear wheels to help keep you in control. Inside, you’ll find a fantastic selection of standard features, including the auto-dimming frameless rearview mirror, leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and a six-speaker sound system.

2024 Mustang GT Premium Fastback/Convertible

To be clear, these are two different trim levels, but they’re so similar that it seemed silly to repeat ourselves. You’ve read it right: there is a Premium Fastback and a Premium Convertible model with the “Coyote” engine. These two options give you the incredible performance of the GT’s V8 engine, along with many upgrades and enhancements from the Premium trims. They’re almost identical in features, with a few differences that mostly come down to their Fastback vs Convertible designs.

You’ve got body-color heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and Pony puddle lamps on these models, along with Pony projection lights; you can get a performance raised rear wing on the Fastback, but not the Convertible. Both models come with 19-inch wheels and the same impressive brakes found on the standard GT model. Inside, you’ll find excellent features like the aluminum foot pedals, heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic temperature control we’ve come to expect in these Premium models. A nine-speaker sound system, ambient lighting system with MyColor customization, and more further enhance your driving experience.

2024 Mustang Dark Horse

Now we come to the star of the show for the 2024 Mustang, the real heavy-hitter: the all-new Dark Horse model, which delivers peak performance for this legendary car. This sleek and sophisticated ride features a naturally aspirated Gen-4 5.0L “Coyote” V8 engine, clocking in at a monstrous 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque. A TREMEC six-speed manual transmission with Rev Matching is standard, though the 10-speed automatic with paddle shifters is available; plus, you get a 3.73 TORSEN limited-slip rear axle, gorgeous 19-inch Dark-Tarnished wheels, and massive six-piston Brembo brakes up front. Inside, you’ll find incredible features like a 12-speaker B&O sound system, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel with Performance Suede inserts, and much more.

2024 Mustang Dark Horse Premium

The standard Dark Horse model is already a remarkable option, but if you’re looking for a few stylish upgrades, you’re looking at the pinnacle trim for the 2024 Mustang. Here, you get the same amazing performance, handling, and lovely stylings of the Dark Horse, but with some extra features like the Pony puddle lamps on the side mirrors and Pony projection lights. Exclusive to the Dark Horse Premium is an available Performance Rear Spoiler with Gurney Flap, along with standard aluminum foot pedals, heated and cooled front seats, and more. Ultimately, both Dark Horse models are amazing; it simply comes down to what you want in your ride or if you’re simply looking for the best of the best.

Which Ford Mustang Has What You’re Looking For?

As you can see, the nine different trim levels provide excellent options to help you get precisely the kind of driving experience you want. All of these options can feel a bit overwhelming, but it helps to take things one step at a time and make a few big decisions to narrow things down. First, determining which of the three engines you want will let you focus on the EcoBoost, GT, or Dark Horse models. Then, decide if you prefer a Fastback or Convertible design since this will further clarify which models you should look at. Finally, consider the interior features and options you want while remembering that some things included in the Premium models are still available on the standard versions as upgrades. Once you know what you’re looking for, it’s easy to choose the right Mustang that will enhance your driving experience for many years.
